It’s Our Birth Day (Five Minute Friday)

Opportunity

The New Year looms fresh, filled with opportunity.
But my eyes keep glancing back. Hungry to analyze and dwell in the mess, in the mistakes.
If I don’t pinpoint what I did wrong, I’ll never get it right.

Opportunity.
Relax. Exhale. Look forward. Fall forward.

I think of ee cummings.

“i who have died am alive again today,
this is the sun’s birthday and the birth
day of life and love and wings.”

There are Spanish words yet to be learned and spoken. Hours to pour into a new job. Pineapple to eat and praises to be sung and gifts to be counted and Psalms to be read.

There is much to be celebrated. Today is a new day. Today is our birthday. Let’s fly.

Five Minute Friday

Happy Five Minute Friday!

Five Minute Friday is a writing flash mob of sorts started by Lisa Jo Baker. Every Friday writers from around the web write on the same topic for five minutes straight, no editing, no interruptions. Then they post what they’ve got and link up to the other writers. Today was my first time participating on the topic of Opportunity, but I’m hoping this will become a regular occurrence on the blog.

Want to learn more about Five Minute Friday and how to participate? All the details are here.

    “Look forward. Fall forward.”
I love that. Why do we look behind us so much, read too much into our past? We should be looking ahead and falling forward to see what’s in store for us next.

“If I don’t pinpoint what I did wrong, I’ll never get it right.” I’ve been thinking a similar thought in the past few weeks…if only I could get all the right information, I would do it right. Analysis and information become my saviors. I appreciate your insight and the clarity of your writing. I hope you continue to grow in your ability to participate in your new world! Language learning is oh-so-worth-it.
